Fire Department Staff

Hamilton Township Fire Department proudly serves the communities of Hamilton Township, Obetz, Reese, Lockbourne, Rickenbacker, Shadeville and surrounding areas, 24 hours per day; 7 days per week. There are thirty-eight employees that break down as follows:


  • 8 full-time officers (1 Chief. 3 Captains. 1 EMS Captain, and 3 Lieutenants)

  • 18 full-time firefighters / paramedics.

  • 11 part-time firefighters / paramedics.

  • 1 part-time medical director / MD


With the exception of the chief and EMS captain, (who work 40 hours per week; M-F) and the medical director, Hamilton Township firefighters work 24 hours on-shift and 48 hours off-shift, for a total of 56 hours per week. These shifts are called 'Units'.


All Hamilton Township firefighters are required to obtain Ohio certifications in firefighting and emergency medical services to the level of paramedic, IAW Ohio Revised Code. Additionally, background investigations, physical screening and interviews must be performed prior to obtaining employment as a firefighter / paramedic with Hamilton Township.


Hamilton Township firefighters / paramedics are proudly represented by IAFF Local 3344 and are standing-by 24/7 to serve you.
